Objective coding services – Invensis
Our objective coding services are essentially meant for lawyers and law firms across the globe. Many legal documents were traditionally created by lawyers or law clerks dictating document summaries, and secretaries typing them into a word processor. The result was often an expensive document of limited value. It is here that objective coding comes in handy. Our document specialists review legal documents and prepare a computerized index of basic objective data for each document.
Deploying large in-house teams of objective
coders can prove to be a highly expensive
proposition. By outsourcing to Invensis, clients
will get high quality and cost effective coding,
without the hassle of infrastructure maintenance and
recruitment.

The different options in objective coding
- Inventory indexing: Invensis creates a database record for each file in the
collection. The most simplistic version contains just the Bates range and the
file title.
- Bibliographic indexing: This type of database is typically used in
conjunction with document imaging. It creates a database record for each
document, capturing Bates range, date, title, document type, author, recipient,
CC and other document characteristics. One can also choose enhanced
bibliographic options including issues or names mentioned in text.
- Detailed indexing: This is a detailed index for the 5-10% of clients’
collection that is most important for their case. A typical document entry
includes all of the bibliographic fields, a more detailed outline of issues, a
subjective priority rating, and a summary in plain English.
